Welcome to 2026!  We are excited to bring to you this year a number of interesting events both online and in person.  Our first event: The Inner Circle Railway, North Fitzroy

Date: Tuesday, 24 March 2026

Time: 6.00-8.00 pm

Location: Binap and Garrong rooms, ground floor, Bargoonga Nganjin – North Fitzroy Library (Enter via entrance on St Georges Road)

If you walk around North Carlton and North Fitzroy, especially the area of the Edinburgh Gardens, you may have noticed the remnants of what was once the Inner Circle Railway, both the railway lines and stations.   Join us for part 1 to learn the history of this railway line, which will take you along the North Fitzroy section of the former Inner Circle Railway from Nicholson Street to St Georges Road.  Former significant and some remaining features will be highlighted and described by Fitzroy History Society committee member, Terence Nott.

Part 2, along the spur line through the Edinburgh Gardens to the former Fitzroy station and goods yard near Queens Parade, is scheduled for an on-line presentation at a later date.
