What's Under the Floorboards?
80 Webb Street, Fitzroy, Saturday May 10 at 10.00am
See what kinds of bones, bottles and buttons have been hiding dormant under the floorboards of 80 Webb Street Fitzroy with a short talk and photo presentation by proud homeowner Eloise. The 1851 bluestone workers cottage has revealed old wallpapers, coins, China, glass, earthenware shards and more.
Tour one of the earliest bluestone houses in Fitzroy prior to an upgrade renovation. The floorboards are up!
Once viewing the cottage, we shall have a short walk to the Florence Peel Meeting Room on corner of Young Street and Moor Street (next to Fitzroy Library in Moor Street and Fitzroy Police Station on Young Street. Here you will hear of the history of the cottage, its builder and family with a presentation of a photographic collection of all artefacts extracted from under the floorboards.
Watch a film of artefacts found from an archaeological dig and discuss life and times of early Fitzroy.
We hope to see you all there.
