Thursday May 23, 6-8pm. Gertrude St Fitzroy walking tour and film screening highlighting footy and Sir Doug. Start Atherton Gardens, finish Builders Arms.

The AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round is coming! How much do you know about Sir Doug Nicholls?

“Running, boxing, football – a champion in everything, all at the one time. It’s totally mind-blowing for me!” (Jason Tamriu, grandson of Sir Doug Nicholls)

Add to that list pastor, activist, Father of the Year and Governor of South Australia.

Join us for a Yalinguth Fitzroy special event in the park, on the street then round the fire in the pub.

Start near the Stolen Generations, Atherton Gardens, Gertrude Street
Guided by Jason Tamiru, we'll story walk our way to the Builders Arms hearing about community, the rights movement and the important role of footy and the history of the Fitzroy Stars and MAYSAR. See where Sir Doug started a church for community and also hear about the legendary visit from Muhammed Ali! We'll finish in the courtyard at the Builders Arms with a short film about Sir Doug and some more yarns with his nephew Uncle Bobby Nicholls.

What better way to get amongst the Indigenous Round ahead of the Dreamtime at the ‘G match!

Many thanks to the Builders Arms Hotel for supporting this event.
